Embracing Authentic Change and Transformation

Authentic, meaningful relationships are a catalyst for transformation. This transformation involves integrating past experiences with a vision of a future rooted in community and shared values.

As our community grows and welcomes a symphony of diverse voices, intriguing questions emerge:

  • How do we manage complex change?
  • How does authenticity fare in the face of power dynamics and differentials?
  • Can we honor our shared humanity and drive individual growth at the same time?

These questions prompt us to reflect:

  • What values benefit both our patients and our community?
  • How do we develop the awareness and skill to honor cultural and other forms of diversity?
  • How do we reassess our values and practices to meet the evolving needs of everyone we serve, including each other?

Summer Workshop will be a space for intentional dialogue and reflection, encouraging individual and collective transformation. We invite you to explore strategies for fostering growth and transformation, leveraging both professional expertise and personal experiences to enhance the psychotherapy process.

Engage this topic as creatively and broadly as your inspirations may take you! Proposals for 3-, 6-, and 9-hour workshops and process groups enthusiastically accepted – soft deadline December 1, 2024, hard deadline January 1, 2025.

 

Summer Workshop 2025 Mission Statement:

We believe that meaningful change begins with self-awareness and the courage to embrace new perspectives. Our mission is to empower people to examine limiting beliefs, cultivate personal change, and foster genuine connections to transform as a collective. Through workshops, resources, and supportive environments, we aim to facilitate journeys of self-discovery that ignite positive change, ultimately creating a ripple effect of transformation in the world around us.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify ethical issues in authentic interactions that promote or hinder growth and positive change in therapeutic relationships.
  2. Explore the realities of power differentials and cultural heterogeneity to enhance the possibilities for change within the therapeutic relationships with each of our clients.
  3. Share effective approaches for integrating transformative practices to improve therapeutic outcomes.
  4. Discuss strategies to maintain individual integrity, mutual respect and shared humanity.
  5. Identify the ways power dynamics and imbalances impact authentic dialogue and therapeutic effectiveness in fostering authentic growth and change.
  6. Explore how diverse perspectives and experiences can inform and enhance transformation.

  1. Conscious Connection: Impact and Intention
  2. I-Thou: Possibilities and Pitfalls in promoting therapeutic change
  3. Authenticity: Welfare or weapon?
  4. The role of rupture/repair in authentic relationships that evolve, change, and transform
  5. Strategies to balance expressions of self-respect, mutual respect and shared humanity in promoting change and transformation.
