Each year, AAP awards 20 need-blind scholarships of $1,500 to two groups of applicants, psychotherapists in their first decade of practice and mid-career psychotherapists. These one-time scholarships are offered to non-members to defray the cost of attending the I&C including registration, hotel, meals, and travel. Scholarship recipients will participate in an intensive daily three-hour process group facilitated by two AAP leaders and are otherwise free to attend workshops and plenaries.
AAP is dedicated to the personal as well as the professional development of the therapist. Understanding the ways in which we bring our own complexities into our therapeutic interactions is at the core of the Academy’s mission. We address these issues through a focus on process, interpersonal feedback, and experiential learning. In addition to participating in conferences, AAP members also gather in long-term peer groups that support personal exploration and sharing of different approaches. There are many paths to therapeutic efficacy, all rooted in the person of the therapist. AAP offers a professional home for new and seasoned clinicians alike.
